This mini road trip takes me to the beautiful Lake District national park where we will be setting up camp on an island only accessible by boat. Bush craft, campfire cooking and simply relaxing by the fire in the beautiful landscape by the lake, I even try my hand at fly fishing but do we get lucky and catch anything? I invite you to join me on this adventure. ASMR
Traveling to the Lake District in my camper van was the start of an unforgettable adventure. The drive itself was a joy, navigating winding roads flanked by stone walls, past villages with slate-roofed cottages and fields dotted with sheep. My destination was a hidden gem: a tiny, forested island on the largest lake, accessible only by my motor dinghy.
I parked the van at a quiet lakeside spot, unloaded my gear, and readied the dinghy. The engine’s steady hum broke the silence as I cut through glassy waters, the wake fanning out behind me. Reaching the island, I beached the boat on a rocky shore and stepped into a world that felt untouched by time.
Wild camping was blissfully simple. I pitched my tent among the trees, gathered deadwood and kindled a small fire. As twilight deepened, flames danced and shadows stretched. The lake fell silent and the only sounds were crackling fire, the soft lap of waves and distant owls. Cocooned in my sleeping bag with a hot water bottle, I drifted off to the soothing rhythm of water and wind.
