The Mercury F6M 6hp short shaft 4-stroke outboard is a lightweight, portable engine designed for smooth, quiet performance on smaller craft. With an integrated fuel tank and the option to connect a remote fuel tank for extended range, it’s a great choice for aluminium tiller boats, inflatable soft hull boats, jon boats, utility boats and small sail boats.

Yes – it’s well suited to inflatable soft hull boats thanks to its portable weight, simple tiller controls and quiet through-prop exhaust.

Is it pull start or electric start?

Pull start only – long shaft also available.

Does it have reverse?

Yes – it has F-N-R (Forward-Neutral-Reverse), which makes low-speed manoeuvring and docking easier.

Does it have an internal fuel tank?

Yes – it includes an integrated 1.1L fuel tank with an external fuel-shutoff valve.

Can I connect an external fuel tank?

Yes – for extended range it can be connected to an optional 12L remote fuel tank.

What shaft length should I choose?

Short shaft (15″ / 381mm) suits many inflatables and low transoms, while long shaft (20″ / 508mm) is better for higher transoms and some RIB setups.
